The Ford Mustang Mach-E isn’t just an all-electric powerhouse — it’s also safe. The all-new, all-electric SUV recently ran through the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s specialized gauntlet of crash and driver assistance technology tests and was found to be wanting for nothing.
In all crashworthiness categories, which range from roof integrity evaluations to the notoriously difficult small overlap front crash test, the Mustang Mach-E earned the IIHS’s highest possible score of “Good”.
But good crash tests aren’t enough in this day and age. To earn a Top Safety Pick rating, the Mach-E also needed to perform in the crash avoidance evaluations — and did so splendidly. The Mach-E earned the IIHS’s highest possible score of “Superior” for its vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention.
“This award validates the efforts of the Mustang Mach-E team to create an electric vehicle that not only turns heads, but helps keep our customers and their passengers safe,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford chief product platform and operations officer. “We continue to prioritize safety performance for our entire portfolio.”
The IIHS also gave a top score to the Mach-E’s optional LED headlights, another requirement for the award.
So there you have it: the all-new Mustang Mach-E is fast, eco-friendly, efficient, and to top it all off, it ranks among the safest vehicles in the industry. Get a closer look at Laird Noller Lawrence Ford in Lawrence, Kansas!
